ALL AMERICAN RACERS ANNOUNCES THAT IT WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE CART 2000 SEASON.

December 20, 1999
Santa Ana, California

Dan Gurney:

"Despite a major marketing effort and a very good racing package consisting of Ford engines, Reynard or Lola chassis, Firestone tires and Bryan Herta as the driver, we have not been able to generate sufficient sponsorship funding for a credible, competitive program in 2000. We do not rule out, however, a return to CART in the years following, as my belief in the enormous potential of CART racing remains undiminished."

Except for the years 1994 and 1995, which AAR devoted exclusively to a testing program of the new Toyota champ car engine, AAR has entered a team in one of the major motor racing categories (Formula 1, Indycars, Sports cars, Champcars) without interruption since 1965. A 16 year relationship with Toyota, which included an all out 4 year effort by AAR to get the Toyota Champ car engine program up to speed, came to an end in October. Since then, AAR has been reorganizing and restructuring. While possible future racing endeavors will be announced in due time, AAR's high tech manufacturing and prototyping division is open for business and presently involved in programs for the aircraft, automobile/racing and motocycle industry.
