This is a photo that Tom
Leonard took of Dan during the pre-race at the Ontario Speedway in
1976. Tom was a member of the US Air Force Band that performed the
National Anthem for the race, and brought along his camera, as he grew
up as a race fan. What struck Tom when he took the photo was the look on
your Dan's face… intense and far away, in the middle of all the noise
and chaos which is typical of a pre-race pit area.
