Alex
Gurney is the youngest son of racing legend and All American Racers Team
owner Dan Gurney. While he was exposed to auto racing from the time
he was born, he was not encouraged to pursue a driving career and only
started go-karting on an amateur level in his first year of college.
Upon graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he
earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in the spring of
1997, he gained his parents' blessing to go road racing.Off the track, Alex enjoys motorcycle riding with his Dad and brothers, test riding the latest version of Alligator motorcycles. 2007: 2006: GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing - Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series 6th in season championship In a sophomore year that was marked by big ups and downs, Alex led the GAINSCO team in its first full season of Rolex Series competition by leading dozens of laps, finishing on the podium four times, winning a pole at Watkins Glen and forming a strong partnership with new teammate Jon Fogarty. 2005 :GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing - Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series 18th in season championship (partial season) Alex's debut season in sports cars, showing clear signs of speed. Topped the times in his very first practice day in a Daytona Prototype when the team debuted in Laguna Seca. Paired with rookie Bob Stallings, Alex scored two pole positions at Barber Motorsports Park and Mid-Ohio, four top-10 finishes and a podium at Watkins Glen, and catapulted his team into the top ranks of Rolex Series competitors. 2004: Blackhawk Racing/Pacific Coast Motorsports Driver Coach/Test Driver Worked as a test driver and driver coach for PCM's championship-winning Toyota Atlantic team, and coached Bob Stallings on his way to victory in the SCCA Formula Atlantic National Championship. 2003: Blackhawk Racing/Pacific Coast Motorsports Driver Coach/Test Driver 2002: Dorricott Racing - Toyota Atlantic Championship 3rd in series championship Strong qualifying efforts and consistent race finishes powered Gurney to third place in one of the most competitive seasons of Atlantic competition on record.
