• Two poles, four top-10s in 2005, his Rolex Sports Car Series debut season.

• Scored eight top-10s in 2001 British Formula 3 Championship
• Winner of the Team Green Academy which featured the top 25 best up and coming American racers (1998)
• Scored 10 wins and 10 poles in 14 races in Formula Dodge Midwest Championship 1997
• Won SCCA regional championship Colorado (Dodge Neon) 1997

2007:
Won the Pole position for one of the racing world’s marquee events, the Rolex 24 hours at Daytona, the first race of the 2007 Rolex Grand Am championship. This race featured many of today’s biggest and best racing stars- Juan Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Helio Castroneves, Paul Tracy, AJ Allmendinger ..etc.. Won round two in Mexico City.

2006:
GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing - Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series
6th in season championship
In a sophomore year that was marked by big ups and downs, Alex led the GAINSCO team in its first full season of Rolex Series competition by leading dozens of laps, finishing on the podium four times, winning a pole at Watkins Glen and forming a strong partnership with new teammate Jon Fogarty.

2005:
GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing - Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series
18th in season championship (partial season)
Alex's debut season in sports cars, showing clear signs of speed. Topped the times in his very first practice day in a Daytona Prototype when the team debuted in Laguna Seca. Paired with rookie Bob Stallings, Alex scored two pole positions at Barber Motorsports Park and Mid-Ohio, four top-10 finishes and a podium at Watkins Glen, and catapulted his team into the top ranks of Rolex Series competitors.

2004:

Driver Coach/Test Driver
Worked as a test driver and driver coach for PCM's championship-winning Toyota Atlantic team, and coached Bob Stallings on his way to victory in the SCCA Formula Atlantic National Championship.

2002:
Dorricott Racing - Toyota Atlantic Championship
3rd in series championship
Strong qualifying efforts and consistent race finishes powered Gurney to third place in one of the most competitive seasons of Atlantic competition on record. Was on provisional pole at Denver, Trois Riviers, and Toronto, racked up four podium finishes, six top-5s and 11 top-10s in 12 races.

2001:
Fortec Motorsport British Formula 3

In a difficult lone year in Europe, Alex took a chance with one of the only teams in the field that ran a Renault engine that struggled against a field full of Hondas. Disagreements in the team made a learning year in the series very forgettable. Things looked a little more promising towards the end of the season, Alex had a few solid qualifying performances, and ended with eight top 10 finishes.

*End of year, returned to the US, won the "Dorricott shootout" in team’s Indy Lights cars, broke track record at Buttonwillow raceway, beating out fellow competitors- Nick Rondet, Ryan Hunter Reay, Danica Patrick, Rocky Moran Jr, Roger Yasukawa, Sepp Koster. Prize was a season with Dorricott Racing in Toyota Atlantic.

2000:
All American Racers- Toyota Atlantic Championship

1 pole, 1 podium in a debut season for AAR, 8^th in series championship despite 5 mechanical DNFs from 12 races

1999:
P1 Racing/Team Green

Raced with Kool sponsorship at P1 racing in first year of Atlantic competition.

1998:
Barber Dodge Pro Series/ Team Green

1 pole, 3 top 5s, in lone year of Pro Series

1997:
Winner Team Green Academy Scholarship besting the top 25 up and coming American drivers.

10 wins, 10 poles from 14 races in Skip Barber Formula Dodge championship

1996/1997:
Won SCCA regional championship in Colorado (Dodge Neon)
