Dan Gurney’s All American Racers will enter Atlantic competition in 2000.
AAR will run one car in the CART Toyota Atlantic championship for Alex Gurney in the year 2000. Alex Gurney will be competing in his second season of Atlantic competition after being one of the front running rookies of 1999. The team will continue to operate out of its Santa Ana, CA based facility. Since the announcement that AAR will not compete in the CART Fedex Championship next year, the company has been restructuring and the race team has been drastically downsized. A few of the key members of the CART race team have been retained to be part of the Atlantic team in 2000. All American Racers has taken delivery of a new Swift chassis and will be running engines built by Hasselgren. The team will begin testing by the end of January. While the race team will operate on a much smaller scale, AAR’s prototype and manufacturing facility will continue its efforts on exciting new projects in and outside of racing. Further detailed information of the Atlantic team will be announced in the coming weeks. |
